Gimme Shelter

On May 7th the friendly stylists at lab closed the shop for a day to host the first ever GIMME SHELTER cut-a-thon to raise money for the "Our Place Society."

This worthy charity helps the homeless and working poor in the city of Victoria by providing shelter and necessary services to those in need. They are headed by the iconic Rev. Allan who is described as a hero by many, and we can see why.  Anytime you get a chance to help these fine folks out we suggest it. You will be met with genuine heartfelt gratitude and warmth.

The day was a huge success boasting almost 100 haircuts and raising approx $2500.

Thanks to our pals Chris Longshanks & Kenzie Clarke for supplying the soundtrack.

The sold out after party was held at Luckybar's newest incarnation NYPD (not your parents disco). Olmeca tequila was on hand to make sure that the party goers were all in great spirits and subsequently caused more than one stylist to be late for work the next day. We also had a chance to give away a truckload of prizes donated by our friends in the Lower Johnson district. Prizes such as the "lay back way back award" were given to the people furthest from the stage, the auspicious "I came with Paige award" ( given to the girl that came with Paige), and the most prestigious of all "Convince me you can hustle award" in which people had to merely convince Matty, in front of the bar, that they could do the hustle.

Congrats to our contest winners especially Chris Vickers ( winner of the "I dropped my pants to win this award" award. )

All in all a successful and fun filled day had by all.
