5 Things you should know about the new parking monoliths.

So you just circled the block for half an hour to find a spot just steps away from our doorstep, and your old familiar friend waiting at the end of your parking spot looks a little different nowadays. Don't panic, lab has some tips to make your stay along Victoria's curbside that much more pleasant.

1. Remember your spot number. If its your first time using the new meters you will probably forget but memorizing it in the future will come in handy. (see 3).

2. Lock the doors because you wont be going back. Once you pay for your time you do not need to return to your car. Put that receipt in your pocket (see 4).

3. Those 4 digits will save your life. So you just parked and you forgot your change and you have to walk 3 blocks to get where you're going. If you remember your spot number you can feed your meter from any terminal in town. Neat huh?

4. Those 4 digits will re-save your life. The haircut is running a little long. If you kept your receipt from tip 2 you can see your spot number. With numbers in hand, go to any nearby meter and re-feed for as much time as you think you'll need. Make sure you don't get caught by the re-feed police though. The parking limit is still just 90 minutes total.

5. Staying overnight? any time added to your spot after 6pm will start ticking down the next day at 9am. If you plan on leaving the car overnight it will give you a little extra time to make it downtown.

Hopefully these tips will make your visit to lab a little easier. If you've never learned to parallel park and parkades are more your thing, we have a whole stack of first-hour-free cards for you to use, just ask!
