We love Habit coffee, that's why we serve it a la French press in the salon, and we want you love it too. Never been that "into" coffee? still call it "expresso"? Ever wonder what the guy in the turtleneck and the skinny pants is sipping? Here's your chance leave the darkness. Habit coffee (552 Pandora ave.) is having a little "get to know your 'spro" night this Sunday. Open to the public, young and old alike, from 7-8pm.

This year we are proud to have been nominated for a best of the city award by Victoria's Blackpress.

Truthfully, we found the choices for many of the first place finishers rather questionable (sorry, but in our opinion Aldo, you are not the best shoe store, Dallas Road you are not the best place to meet a mate, the Brick is not the best furniture shop... we could go on and on here) but we are thrilled to share our third place finish with some of these first rate establishments:

HST starts July 1st :(

We would like to take a moment to discuss how the HST will affect your life at LAB.

Until now the federal government has been collecting only 5% GST on all hair services. On July 1st the HST will go into effect raising the tax to 12% on everything from haircuts to shampoo.

Unfortunately the government has taken a "businesses will save money and pass on the savings to you the consumer" standpoint. This is untrue of service based businesses. Things like our property lease, the products we use, the amazing coffee we serve you, and everything else that goes into making LAB so wonderful, will increase in price by roughly 7% which greatly inflates our cost of doing business.

We are committed to providing you with the same great service and atmosphere you have come to know and love at the same reasonable prices. Which is why we feel compelled to let you know this :

The only increase you will notice in our prices is due to increased taxation and not an increase in service price.

Urbanite: Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, June 18th.

If you haven't heard of or attended yet, let us introduce you to Urbanite. 4 times a year, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria throws a little mixer filled with booze, music, and some great art. This Urbanite falls on June 18th and is sure to be one of the best yet. Exhibitions aren't usually "opened" on Urbanite nights but this one is an exception. This is shaping up to be the best Urbanite yet, why? Reason 1: Kent Monkman will be attending and opening his cheeky exhibit while the city's young and influential crowd makes the gallery their own. Reason 2: Lab favorite DJ, TOUCH BASS will be providing the soundtrack for the night. We think you should come.
